Sounds pretty cool do you have any pics of the aluminum tonneau cover? I've never seen one on a Ranger.

I used a flat sheet of aluminum with 1" square tubing riveted to the underside. I riveted 3/4" angle to the bed rails to support the cover and help it lie flush with the rails.

I am not sure if I will cover it with auto top vinyl, paint it, or sand it to give it a brushed look with shiny rivet heads.

No top or closed pics . . .

The tailgate will open by remote with a door solenoid and my remote. I also need to add some struts, but need to find the right ones first.

I love that cover man! I thought about making one before but that a thought was as far as I got. I vote brushed aluminum!

Thanks - I still need to find struts, but I have to weigh the cover and then decide on length and force for the strut. Then I can fabricate the mounts.
Still much to do and little time or money to do it all . . .

Do you have any pictures of the hinges? You should check out Checkmate Covers (if they are still in business) they make a similar Tonneau cover. They have the struts and brackets already made so it would probably be easy to mount to your cover. I think mine used 50lb struts

No pic of the hinge and Checkmate covers base of operations is only an hour from my house. I may try to go by their facility and get some advise and struts and maybe replace my hinge.

Next month I am going to buy a hard shell, flush mount tonneau cover for my ranger. I want a decent one that is going to last a long time. I want to know what brand I should get and a ball park price and what I am going to have to spend.

Thanks

Hey guys, another long absence equals more modifications:

Just some updated photos:

Have not painted the bumper white, sorry but I like it this way so far. Looking for a 2001 or newer bumper to replace this one, I may paint it white.
Making plans for a engine swap, 2 more cylinders, and a rear disc brake swap. BTW the hood is not black, it is CF.

That is all for now - later.
