so i need to either get my ranger towed to baha's house or tow it myself in order to fix the damage on it due to a leak on a radiator hose that i cant fix and other stuff from the wreck. anyways i dont really have a huge amount of money to get it fixed let alone to get it towed too so i figured itd be cheapest to tow the ranger myself using the expedition at my house. the expedition has one of those holes in the bumper that looks like a huge thick washer in which u can mount a hitch ball to, and then attatch a tow dolly. i was just wonderin if this looked like the right hitch ball, http://store.uhaul.com/master_product_d ... spx?id=104 i figured this would be the cheapest route because renting a dolly is about 50 bucks for a day and the hitch ball will be about 10...and his house is probably about an hour away so any company would charge me more than 60 to tow my truck and i dont know anyone nearby that will do it for less than that. thanx for the help, just need to know if that hitch ball will work.

That's the right ball.

I've got a tow dolly...I think Baha has one as well. One thing when towing...I'd suggest taking the fenders OFF the truck. The Ranger is narrower the my '66 Ranchero, but I (well, my dad.....) ruined the fenders on it from the dolly, and on a '66 Falcon parts car, But those are wide cars, you might not have that problem on the 'Ger.

one of the fenders is already off because it is bent...but thanks for the heads up and the reply man, i may have to see about borrowing your tow dolly instead of renting one from u-haul

I had no problems using a tow dolly on my ranger. One thing I would suggest is pulling your driveshaft though, I've always heard that on RWD it mess it up if you go for too far.

yea but the radiator is pushed at an angle and because the core support is bent and i think its putting too much force on the hose which is causing the leak....like the more u push the hose in the direction it is already being forced the more it leaks...i think the hose itself is fine but just the pressure on it from the core support and the radiator at an angle are causing the leak...could be wrong tho

yea Mark, its like since the core support is pushed angled towards the engine the upper radiator hose can't seal completely, it only leaks when the system is presurized at the hose to thermostat housing connection, the hose and thermostat housing still look good though, Dwain if you wanted to you could try replacing the hose first to see if that stops the leak wouldn't hurt anything

Yeah I talked to James a little earler. He mentioned maybe coming to pick up the Ranger on Sunday if you want to. If you want, I can go ahead and bring everything for the front end w/ me and James so you and Baha can get to work. If you have the money now that would be great, but if not its not a problem. Just let me know. Also, do you still need the hood or did you get an aftermarket one?
