spit next time....

I've heard that while we're getting some oil from other countries and some oil derricks are getting back online, the price drop, if any, will be shortlived.

sorry funny guy no spitting or swallowing going on here. I need gas ASAP so I hope they drop quick. LOL

i would give anything to have bush come on tv and just say aww shucks it we're drilling alaska and those hippie tree huggers can deal with it this is a crisis and im going to control it. we will also not be buying any foreign oil until prices become what i believe to be fair. until then all foreign oil will cease to be in these united states. thank you and good night.

i agree 100% gas would be cheaper and we would stop having to depend on THEM over there

The reason why gas is high isn't because of the lack of oil, it's the lack of refinery's. There has not been a new refinery in 30+ years. In those 30 years the crude oil supply has increased, and the demand for gas/refined oil has gone WAY up...but not one drop more crude oil is being refined into gas. We could drill all we want, all it'd do is provide us lots and lots of crude oil that we can't use.....we need new refineries.

Tiger is right. It's more the refineries than anything. The price of a barrel is the only visible marker for people to see; and the excuse the gas companies point to when an increase occurs.

It is sad though about the lack of refineries; and the fact new ones haven't been built in 30 years. With all the improvements in chemical processing, I'd love to see what a new refinery would be capable of acheiving in terms of efficiency.

The prices will probably rest at around $3/gallon. What incentive do the gas companies have to lowering the price? They know we'll pay; it's not like we have a choice in the matter.

Yea its the refineries but you would think we would have another resource to use after the gas crisis in the 70s. It would take atleast 10 years to actually start to get oil out of the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge once they do open it up.

Who all is interested in working together to produce a kit to convert our gasoline powered engines to run off of some type of alcohol based fuel?

My truck is already a flex fuel vehicle.

The problem with any change in the vehicle's fuel is that the infrastructure needs to be in place to provide that fuel. That is part of the problem with electric cars, cooking oil cars, and even to some extent, deisel vehicles (there are some gas stations that do not carry deisel). Personally, I would still like to put a small turbo deisel in my truck from overseas. That would be cool.

Also, as much as it pains me to say this (I side mostly with Republican views), there is the oil lobby that needs to be silenced, and the government is in it's pocket.
