where would be the best place to get a cell. i am wanting to run my stock pump so i am going to need one that will accept this...

I don't believe any place makes them that will fit your stock pump you will have to buy a fuel cell and modify it to work with your stock pump, Summit Racing Sells one made by RCI it's called a hot rod fuel cell it's dimensions are 30"Wx12"Hx9" It worked great with my stock pump because the stock pump assembly is roughly 12". I drove it daily for 2 years without a prob. I'll try to find pics tonight, but if 12" is to high for you, you could also shorten the pick up and return lines on the pump.

why would you want to run a stock pump? just curious. An external pump isn't too much more money and it works so much better. I am running a MSD external pump on mine and it runs so much better than it did with the stock fuel pump. You can get it from Barnett performance for around $80. It is so much easier to just buy a cell, hook up the lines, and then mount the fuel pump up to your frame. All I had to do was extend the fuel lines and a little bit of the wiring.

Depending on what year is it running a external pump isn't a good idea at all. Because 98+ Rangers run at 65PSI in a returnless system. I believe that the 97 to 94ish body style have a return system which basicly any aftermarket pump will work with.

Which basicly means to a aftemarket pump that powerful is around $500 (I priced them). Another problem is you can't just run any pump in a returnless system. Well you can, but you will blow it up quick as hell.

From my understanding (I talked to a few mechanics at my work and a few from Fords) is that if you have the fuel flex fuel system on your vehicle you basicly have to run the stock fuel pump because there is a extra sensor in the fuel pump.

I bought a MSD high pressure fuel pump made for EFI motors and even talked to MSD about using it in my application and they recomended against. it.

I know a shop that will make you a custom fuel cell, built to your specs, that will fit your stock fuel pump. he built me one in 2 weeks and it bolts right up all for $300.00. pm me back and i can give you his info. his shop is in atlanta GA. also he utilizes you stock gas cap so you can still pass emissions.

I may be interested in that... I need a fuel cell here in the next few weeks cuz im jus leaving my stock tank where it is for now just to get the truck driveable again and will take another weekend to do the fuel cell and finish body work as time goes cuz that doesnt put the truck outta commission as much as this bag project has!

it might be cheaper to just buy a fuel cell and run an external pump. My pump was like 80 and you can get a fuel cell from Summit or Jegs for fairly cheap. Some are around 100-160. Putting that external pump on my truck made it run alot better too.

you wont pass emissions w/ an external pump. maybe for a 96, but im 99% sure you wont. You have to have the FTP sensor and the stock gas cap. Jegs or Summit wont sell fuel cells with that, this shop will make a fuel cell specifically for your setup, however you want it. 16-22 gal, under bed. shaped just like factory, or a standard square.

For 96 and up, it is just a computer test. They check and see if you have a check engine light, make sure it goes on and off, and then run a diagnostic test to make sure that the computer doesn't throw any codes. I don't see any reason why an external pump would throw a code, and the emission's places where I live are pretty cool, so I can just give them a gas cap to test since mine won't fit.

If your truck is 98 or higher it most likely has a returnless fuel system and runs at 65PSI constantly. IF thats the case running a MSD external fuel pump won't work. (I owned a pump and have all the specs on the fuel system and talked to MSD about it). You can get a voltage booster and pump about 15.5 volts the the fuel pump and get your 65PSI...but its made for a returnless system and will burnout quick as aww shucks.

I just recently put my fuel pump in my fuel cell (last week). You have to get a fuel cell that is atleast 10"s deep. You will still have to use the small ring that comes with the filler cap under the fuel pump. You will also need to buy some kind of filler neck and drill that in too. I have pictures of everything I did to mine. I didn't cut in the filler neck yet because I'm not positive where I'm going to put it yet. Let me know if you want me to post pictures or if you need help with anything else.

I bought all my the badger from Summit Racing. I probably spent about.....$270-280ish area. That is inclueding caps to cover the outlets on the fuel cell too.
Parts I bought are:

15 gallon RCI aluminum fuel cell
Filler neck
2 12 bolt flanges
4 8AN- caps

i got a fuel cell and just used my stock pump in it and it works great

I don't think he has been able to test his fuel cell further then a drive down the street and back yet

i talked to a guy from GEF racing in Union City this morning. He said that the older models do have FTP sensors, but as long as the truck runs fine and doesn't skip it shouldn't be a problem. He said on newer model 4.0's SOHC that might throw up a code, but on an older model 99% it should NOT cause a problem.
